Chris is an active K9 handler with a Sheriff’s Office in Kentucky, with over twenty years of experience training and working dogs. His work is driven by a simple but firm belief: dogs deserve fairness and leadership—and handlers and owners deserve systems that actually work.

Long before entering law enforcement, Chris was drawn to working with dogs that struggled the most. That early curiosity grew into a lifelong commitment to understanding behavior at its root, not just correcting symptoms. Today, that philosophy guides every dog, handler, and team he works with.

Chris is a Canine Team Instructor certified through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and a candidate for Certified Instructor through the Kentucky Department of Justice Training Center and the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council. These roles reflect his commitment not only to training dogs but to developing capable, accountable handlers.

In addition to his duties as a deputy, Chris owns and operates two businesses. Commonwealth Dog Works focuses on family dogs and behavior modification, helping owners rebuild trust, structure and communication in their homes. Working hands-on with countless pet dogs has given Chris extensive real-world experience in canine behavior, learning, and long-term change.

Through Cannon Canine Consulting, Chris works with cities and counties to help reduce risk and strengthen working dog programs. The company focuses on policy-aligned maintenance training, professional mentoring and objective program assessments, ensuring K9 teams are prepared, defensible and effective in real-world operations.

At his core, Chris is a lifelong learner and advocate for the dog. He continually seeks out education and experience to better serve the teams he supports, the communities they protect and the dogs who do the work.
